Fortescue opens 2 GW electrolyzer factory

Fortescue has officially opened a 2 GW hydrogen electrolyzer factory in Australia and has followed that by also confirming plans to set up a 50 MW green hydrogen production plant in the state of Queensland.

Fortescue has opened a hydrogen electrolyzer factory near Gladstone, Queensland, that will have capacity to produce more than 2 GW of proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer stacks per year, helping to support the company's plans to ramp up green hydrogen production in the decade ahead.

Fortescue Energy Chief Executive Mark Hutchinson said the 15,000 square-metre facility at Aldoga, about 25 kilometers west of Gladstone, is one the first in the world to house a fully automated production line and establishes the company as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
