Our Mission

The New England Chapter of IPMI supports regional precious metals businesses including the jewelry and related industries, manufacturers, refiners, suppliers, and financiers.

It focuses on providing timely and educational information on topics including precious metals markets, environmental and regulatory updates, security and control, insurance, ownership structures, industry history and trends, and the economy.

It also supports local college programs and encourages and rewards students seeking entry into the jewelry industry. IPMI NE's Jewelry Design Awards is an annual event which showcases and recognizes the wealth of talent, design, technical and manufacturing skills of students participating in jewelry and metalsmithing curriculms.

Johnson Matthey notes in its latest 'PGM Market Report' that platinum demand will exceed supply again this year on the back of firm industrial use and constrained mine supply, while ruthenium and iridium are also expected to be in deficit amid rising demand from the data storage and energy transition sectors.

Silver demand from PV industry expected to drop 19% this year

A new report from Metal Focus reveals that global silver market remains structurally tight, with elevated prices, a fifth consecutive annual supply deficit in 2025, and ongoing mine and recycling constraints despite modest production growth. At the same time, PV-driven silver demand is falling sharply due to cost pressure and thrifting.
