About the Sustainability/ESG Committee

Our Mission

To provide a unique and interactive forum for IPMI members to exchange effective practices in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) within precious metals as well as sustainability and our industry’s impact on the low carbon economy. This committee will ultimately serve as a depository of information, a forum for discussion on areas of concern and a welcoming and inclusive community for members actively promoting sustainability and responsible accounting of ESG risk factors throughout the precious metals supply chain.

Sustainability/ESG Overview

Membership

Open to all IPMI members. IPMI strongly suggests those members who have considerable experience in these areas to be directly involved in the sharing of information for the betterment of the Precious Metal Industry. SESG encourages the participation of Senior Management and Executive personnel with over-arching responsibility for SESG in their organization.

Activities, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Organize twice-yearly meetings, with one held at the Annual Conference.
  • Meetings/Sessions will address a wide range of Sustainability/ESG topics.
  • Co-Chairs are responsible for organizing the speakers and agenda for each meeting.
  • Additional virtual meetings may be held on a specific issue basis if needed.
  • IPMI Executive Director organizes location and logistics of meeting.
Objectives

• Share practices including:
  • Provide a twice-yearly forum for members to discuss contemporary SESG issues and practices.
  • Focus will be on collaboration and information sharing regarding:
    • Prevailing Trends
    • Key Regulatory Initiatives
    • Metrics Standardization
    • Financing
  • Sharing of the diverse perspectives of the IPMI business sectors and value chains.
  • Serving as a forum for thoughtful idea exchange and a communication hub for SESG ideas to be exchanged and concerns to be addressed.
  • Enlisting sector experts and relevant industry participants to present and conduct discussion groups.
  • Brainstorm and review ideas on how to engage the IPMI membership and protect the SESG business interests of our industry.
  • Envision additional ways that the proposed committee can help ensure a thriving world for future generations.
  • Assist the IPMI in implementing a Sustainability Program.
