It has been brought to our attention that, for our 48th Annual Conference this coming June, several IPMI members have been contacted by an outside "Housing Pirate" (Amy Garcia from 'Elite Housing Services') attempting to share information and a fraudulent booking link for our 2024 Conference Hotel, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando. If you receive (or have received) any communications from this company, we urge you to mark it as spam and DO NOT click on any links within the email.
Please DO NOT make room reservations for the upcoming IPMI 2024 Annual Conference or share any personal or payment information, especially credit card details, with anyone who calls, emails, or otherwise contacts you and represents themselves as agents of the IPMI or offers lower room rates at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Hotel in Orlando. The ONLY legitimate way to reserve your room at the conference hotel is by using the IPMI's official booking link here.
The IPMI does not sell or share our contact lists or personal information for our conference attendees or members. That said, we have learned that some of you have already been targeted by a “housing pirate” and we are actively taking steps to handle this situation.
What is a "Housing Pirate"?
Commonly referred to as "housing pirates" or "housing bandits," these are companies that call, fax, or email attendees and exhibitors, claiming to offer good deals on hotel rooms or providing links to alleged room blocks or booking sites. They may falsely claim to be affiliated with the IPMI or with the Hotel.
Please do not provide anyone with your personal information, especially your credit card number. If you provide your credit card information to one of these companies, your card may be charged and there is no guarantee you will have a room upon your arrival in Orlando. You should only book directly with the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Hotel through the link we shared above.
What to do:
If you are contacted or emailed by someone sharing a booking link and/or any special offers for the conference hotel, please DO NOT click any links or engage at all with the individual. If they share any information with you, such as the name of their company, their name, company address, email address, and/or telephone number, please make a note and forward that information to us at mail@ipmi.org.
You should also inform your company's IT Department to block the "Housing Pirate" email address within your email system, to prevent future emails from being received.
The IPMI is not affiliated with the following individual/company (or any others) for our 2024 Annual Conference in Orlando this June:
Amy Garcia

We apologize sincerely for any inconvenience caused and appreciate those of you who reached out to let us know about this. Unfortunately, we have learned this is a common practice that targets associations running conferences.
