Japan plans 10 e-waste hubs to mine copper and metal resources

Mitsubishi Materials to join effort to prevent resources from being shipped abroad

TOKYO -- The Japanese government will work with Mitsubishi Materials and others to set up about 10 hubs for recycling electronic waste as it seeks to keep copper and other metal resources from being shipped overseas. 

The plan is to spend 30 billion yen ($191 million) in three years to help companies invest in the facilities. Besides Mitsubishi Materials, JX Advanced Metals and Hanwa could also join the initiative.
